For Incoming Students
Welcome everyone. This page is especially designed for all of you that are landing in Czech Republic for the first time. By filling you in on some little details, we intend to ease your arrival.
How to travel here from Prague's Airport (Ruzyně):
Once you get to Ruzyne's Airport, you'll have several options:
- Taxi: This is the fastest way, but also the most expensive. As soon as you exit the airport terminal, you'll find various taxi services. We advice caution when choosing one, since they will offer different fares. The airport recommends the AAA Taxi Service, known for its fixed tariffs.
- Bus: The cheapest means of transportation to Plzen. It takes approximately 1,5 hours when departing from the airport. For this, you'll have to take the city bus number 100 and get off at the last stop, Zlicin. There you will have to find the Student Agency (LINK) ticket office, where you can buy your Coach ticket to Plzen - you can also buy this ticket at the airport (ask for the Guichet's location at the information center).
- Mini-bus: Consider this option if you are travelling with a group - you can find this service at the terminal exit.
- Train: Even though this is probably the most complicated option for you, it offers a night service. You will need to get on the city bus(Number 100) to Zlicin, and from there, take the subway until you reach the station Hlavni Nadrazi. There you can buy a train ticket to Plzen.
- Car rental: You will find several providers with different price ranges.

Once you get to Plzen:
The first thing you should look for is a place to stay. Since the University offers hosting at its dormitories (Bolevecká 34), this is probably your best option.
If you came by:
- Taxi and mini-bus: If you opted for this means of transportation , just tell the driver the dormitory address - Bolevecká 34.
- Bus: Get out on the Central Bus Station (CAN - Centrální Autobusové Nádraží) and take the tram number 2 (direction Světovar), exiting at the station Sady Pětatřicátníků. From here you have two options, either take the tram number 4 (direction Košutka) and get out on the station Pod Záhorskem, then go up the street Bolevecká; or you take the tram number 1 in front of the post office (direction Bolevec) and get out on the station Lekarská Fakulta - Lidická.
- Train: Leave the Railway Station (Hlavní Nádraží) and take the tram number 1 (direction Bolevec) and get out on the station Lekarská Fakulta - Lidická.
As an alternative to the faculty dormitories, you can also stay at any Hotel in the city center. Below are a list of a few Hotels with easy access to public transportation:
